What to do when your life’s pleasure and deepest wish is fulltime travel. As a way of life or maybe as some kind of profession. Where to start when there is duty’s calling, mortgage waiting to be paid, 9 to 5 job’s waiting to be done and Monday’s always lurking around the corner, waiting to put us back to reality. Telling us to be realistic. That there’s no such thing like earning money with a hobby or something you actually enjoy doing. Society, family and friends are always there to remind us not to get lost in day dreaming and that fun times are reserved for holiday’s, vacations and the weekends. Mostly its well-meant advice to protect us from doing something silly, stupid or something we might regret. But although those things are said to us with the best intentions, I don’t think it’s wise to listen and to live by them. There are many studies that prove that most people regret the things they haven’t done rather than the things they did.

Nobody is you. So really nobody can do what you do.

And although we all know those things it’s just a few of us that actually have the courage to make a move towards their dream. I’d like to be one of them. My dream is to travel far and to travel often. At the age of 34 I’m ready to pursue that dream. I don’t have it all figured out though. I just know that the 9 to 5 and the mortgage can’t be an excuse anymore. There are already billions of people not living to their true potential and not following their hearts. Why be one of them? I try not to discourage myself by thinking that all the possibilities are already taken or already discovered. I truly believe that if you do something from your heart and follow your passion that there is always room for one more. Nobody is you. So really nobody can do what you do. I try to remind myself of that. Because although you know where your heart and desire truly lies, there will always be doubt. There will also be doubters all around you. But trust me, you are your own worst enemy in this one. The key is to always keep believing because even a dream job can sometimes feel like, a real job. So stick to it and try to be persistent. I truly believe it will pay off.

I know I’l be rejected and I know I’ll be doubted

I constantly have to remind myself that It’s ok to fail. Failure is not fun and certainly not cool, but it is inevitable if you want to make progress. So in order to keep it real I’m preparing to fail. I know I’l be rejected and I know I’ll be doubted. It’s ok. I believe that people trying to talk you out of your dream are not working on their own. So what do they know? Trust yourself. Trust your gut and be with people that believe in you and help you to achieve your goals.

Don’t search for defining moments, because they’ll never come. The moments that define you have already happened.

Samuel Beckett wrote: Ever tried, ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better.

What are you waiting for? Go get ‘m tigers!
